Well, among other things, it seems you are trying to go too complicated and wrong way. You can use a simple line of CSS to make responsive pagination instead of "...I will manually rearrange the pagination to 6 pages instead of 10...".--
In any CMS there are white spots that an experienced web master can easily overcome. It is not possible to create an ideal system, there will always be a place for disadvantages.
